Mining Doge on my broke a$$ Macbook pro. Results.
Such rise, many profits. 3 steps to passive income potential.
I have been mining Doge since I was today years old after following a couple of tutorials that are floating around on the Internet, and even though I’m not retiring just yet I must say the feeling you get mining crypto all by yourself is very rewarding indeed.
Basically, I wanted to try this to see what would be necessary at an absolute minimum (my machine basically constitutes ‘minimum’ at its core) to start earning some cryptocurrency by mining. Why Doge? Why not. Could be anything else, just that the tutorial said so and I hold Doge too.
More in-depth explanation of the steps involved you can find easy at the tutorial itself. But for a broke ass (Intel) MBP these are the 3 (!) steps to follow.
- Get a wallet. I tried my Metamask wallet but got Exodus instead. Didn’t want to mess around with adding Networks and stuff.
- Sign up for a pool. In the case of unMinable, you don’t really sign up as much as you just ‘transfer their information into your miner settings’ Super quick and convenient.
- Copy xmrig onto your machine. Adjust the settings, fire it up and
Bob’s your uncle.
You are now a cryptocurrency miner .🤩 🥳
This took me maybe 5 minutes tops to do. So, what massive earning potential do you have to look forward to?
Yes. A massive 0.0117 Dogecoins. Let’s see how that translates into today’s (21th May. 13:37 😄 o’clock Amsterdam time) dollars.
Half a cent! 😛
But it works! I can scale this up on my machine by working the settings and keep it primarily for mining (it’s chugging along at an abismal 800H/s right now). But since this is my work machine, that will not do. And this is more of a proof of concept for me than anything else really.
So there you go. I was not expecting this to work as well as it does at all, so having a working miner running just might give me the inspiration to follow this up with something more serious perhaps. (M1 Mac Mini i’m looking at you)
But for now. My earnings will most likely be a cent or 3 a day. And that is fine by me.
